they had an important role back in the 00s, I remember getting their print edition from the library when I was a teenager. but as you say everything the site offers can now be found in equal or superior versions in other places. In terms of cataloging discographies sites like Discogs are superior, and as far as reviews go theirs were never that good in the first place, and sites like Rate Your Music offer a more diverse and interesting spread of reviews. I don’t see why a young person getting into music in the 2020s would bother making AMG part of their online music content rotation. The site doesn’t really have a unifying voice or personality which is probably what it needs if it wanted any hope of appealing to people. it just feels like a faceless music website at this point.
