Who’s worse, Malcom McLaren or Kim Fowley? I guess neither was as bad as Jimmy Savile, but most Americans probably still have no fucking idea who Savile was.
Funny comment on one of those live Joy Division Youtube clips I found: “Ian Curtis isn’t trying to dance. Dance is trying to Ian Curtis.”
I’m reminded that First Blood and Die Hard are based on novels too, but you never hear about them. Hell, you rarely hear about the novels Vertigo and Psycho are based off of. Or The Graduate. Or…oh never mind, you know already.
Rabbit Redux was the best of the four Rabbit novels, significantly better than the first IMO, and perhaps my favorite of any book I’ve read about the clashes in the 1960s.
I really never knew what to think about Straw Dogs. I mean, I don’t really have much of a problem with Hoffman killing those guys and I found that scene entertaining, but that means the movie is an artistic failure because I know I read somewhere that Peckinpah intended the Hoffman character to be considered the antagonist of the movie. And it’s all stacked anyway–those guys not only don’t know that the big retarded David Warner guy even killed that girl, but they also kill a cop. Do they even know that he’s hiding Warner in his house? I forget. The thugs sure do get over having boiling oil thrown in their faces and their feet blown out with shotguns really quickly.
The rape scene is also helping to stack the deck.
