I had similar dread prior to doing it but it work out in the end and became a fan in the process
i don’t think even Jeff Blehar or Scott Bertram attempted finishing it as they skipped alot of albums. Lot of late career gems that weren’t even covered in the episode. Willie Nelson is also pretty good live artist and i ended up completing his live albums as well as his strength as a guitarist is emphasise
so sometimes these obsessional completionist listen prior to the Political beats episode being release works out
i think of two artist that i didn’t particularly like but doing the discography listen did encounter hidden gem. The only My Morning Jacket album i like is their most recent 2025 album which may well be the album of the year
I didn’t particularly like John Mellencamp but his obscure 1978 album “A Biography” prior to becoming famous was a good one.
You may think this is crazy I also listened to every album that I haven’t heard before that contained a song featured in their patreon episode as well including the negative episode. There was a “Worst Song to hit #1”. I listened to Bobby Mcferrin Simple Pleasures (noted that was on June What’s Spinning). while i agree with their assessment of Don’t Worry Be Happy (the faux Jamaican accent is really annoying) and it’s the weakest song of the alb. the album is pretty good with one of the great acapella Prince-like funk reimagining Beatles cover of Drive My Car. It’s also good to be familir in what was popular whether good or bad.
