Did they do hippie-ish music when they were starting out? Anyone know? I thought their name was a Beat reference and their first album from 1970 has a psychedelic album cover. I guess they’ve had a lot shit dumped on them over the years, people certainly like to lump them in with stuff like REO Speedwagon and Air Supply and other stuff from the pimply youths of people who were kids in 1980. I for one would like to think I’d have been listening to Joy Division and the first U2 album if I’d have been a kid in 1980, but knowing me I’d have probably been listening to the Bay City Rollers.
