I started it a long time ago the same time I got the Avernum I remake and played both of then simultaneously for a while, and then ended up dropping Avadon because I was more into Avernum. I started Avadon again in March or April and wasn’t enjoying it that much, so I ended up getting sidetracked with oldschool D&D games I bought in a giant bundle. It’s shallower and Avernum and alot more linear. It’s also alot more text/dialogue heavy. I want to like it though. Maybe I’ll start again and play a different character (you don’t get to build your own characters).
I’ll play the Avernum VI remake regardless, but if I get through the remake of V and the remake of VI is still a ways off then I’ll play the original and then play the remake a few years later. VI is my 3rd favorite in the series and, unlike IV or V, I think it’s close enough to the latest versions of the original trilogy that a remake doesn’t seem important. But I haven’t played the remake of IV yet, so maybe that will change my mind. I’m glad that my computer problems & long delay in getting a new machine kept me from replaying the old IV. That was my least favorite of the 6 games, and although I’m sure it still has the weakest story, I’m glad that I’ll be playing an updated version of it.
