It's no great loss

It’s a crap song from the lowest point in John’s career. I’m not sure if he ever publicly disowned the Sometime in NYC album (which is as bad as it reputation), but he quickly distanced himself from the Yippie movement once he realized that he was being exploited by Rubin and Hoffmann for their dubious political stunts. It’s telling that he never recorded any more political songs (bar the vaguely Utopian “Mind Games”) for the rest of his career. Maybe he realized how naive he was being and vulnerable to being coopted by leftist radicals that didn’t necessarily have his best interests in heart and that he didn’t necessarily agree with on further thought. The latest issue of Mojo has an in depth spread on this period to coincide with the box. Krishna knows who would want 9 discs of it. The original double LP is bad enough.
