Glad you appreciate “Yea Heavy” - it’s really what I want from the album, this easy carefree mood with dumb meaningless lyrics that actually work perfectly. I suppose you know the deal with the Band stuff on the Basement Tapes - about half of it is later work that Robertson intentionally gave muddy production, in order for it to look like the Band were writing songs independent of Dylan at a similar pace. There is a massive Bootleg Series release of the complete sessions, which I occasionally listen to bits and pieces of on streaming, there are a few unreleased songs like “I’m Not There” and “Sign on the Cross” that probably should have made the album, a lot of covers, some more interesting than others (I’m very fond of “Waltzing With Sin” and “The French Girl”) and some funny drunken bullshit (“All American Boy” is probably the pinnacle of this).

BTW you’re a big fan of “Let’s Be Still” by YLT right? I saw them the other week performing that song with the Sun Ra Arkestra, it was pretty wonderful.
