I’m not sure if I’ve seen A Bad Day At Black Rock since I watched it in a college Short Fiction On Film class, but I liked it then. That class was the only film class I took that I didn’t like much, but that movie was good. I think I liked it better than the story.
Monte Walsh - I’ve seen slightly less forever ago, but my memory of it is vaguer. I know that I liked Lee Marvin in it.
Winchester ‘73 is, as the kids say these days, S-Tier. It’s probably the definitive 1950s Western, both because it’s so great and because it influence the rest of the decade. It’s also the point where Jimmy Stewart’s career fully matures and he starts consistently playing more troubled and complex characters. My DVD of it has a commentary he did for the laser disc. It’s the only movie he did one for.
- Well then I shall watch "Winchester '73" very soon - Billdude May 5 10:11 PM
