Wasn’t Johnny Rivers on Motown or one of their imprints? Or Liberty?

War have two massive hits that are still ubiquitous to the point of being appropriated by pharmaceutical commercials (that GA/generalized atrophy drug – “slow-it-down, get GA going slower”). Not obscure in the least.

Barry Manilow is a punchline but still a cultural icon just like Rod Stewart, whom he resembles and whose last hit was around the same time. I didn’t look on the list. Is he here?

A lot of the ’60s ones are from the early part of the decade and wouldn’t be forgotten if oldies radio were still around.

Their methodology is a little flawed. By their standards Fats Domino is almost forgotten while Danny and the Juniors are not. All sorts of top-40 hits are forgotten if you look at old charts (Jethro Tull’s “Steel Monkey” hit pretty high, as did Yes’ Heaven and Earth).
