I like Guns. It’s probably the least crazy Cardiacs album, so if I’m in the mood for Cardiacs and aren’t up for an onslaught I might go for this one. Probably still in the bottom half of their albums but I think this one is still a respectable effort and definitely better than Heaven Born. I kinda get the sense that Cardiacs were maybe settling into a pattern of alternating ambitious albums like Sing To God with smaller albums inbetween, and Guns definitely feels like a smaller album. For a long time even though I liked it it was always kind of undwewhelming as the band’s swansong, thankfully that’s been rectified now.
