Black Crowes I guess cause they’re still plugging away they should get a longevity award......the tracks I heard from the record of a year or so back sounded pretty good and I think they are releasing a new record yet this year. However, it’s a band that I never thought were great…perhaps anymore, just being good is good enough of a bar for the RRHOF. they are certainly better than fellow inductees like Bon Jovi, Bad Company among others
Jeff Buckley Grace is a good album but you need more than one album....if not then you better consider bands like Love and Moby Grape
Mariah Carey considering the current criteria, a shoo -in. Not rock, of course, but as an artist much better than Cher , a step below Whitney
Phil Collins my vote would be no as I never liked his solo stuff despite being a huge Genesis fan. Always a little irked that he became more known as a singer, which overshadowed the fact that he was one of the best drummers in rock music.
Melissa Etheridge kind of funny that she is sharing space on the ballot with the Black Crowes, since in their heyday they seemed to also share radio space during a time when FM radio still was relevant. Perhaps she gets an edge here because she was socially brave as a trailblazer, but I think that the Indigo Girls, who were equally brave as trailblazers in the same time period, albeit more folk-rock, had more talent, better songs and more longevity.
Lauryn Hill see Jeff Buckley
Billy Idol kind of campy fun in the MTV era, sort of like Adam Ant or a male version of Cyndi Lauper....artists like Tears For Fears, however, who were much more talented with better records and better chart success at the time, and since their reunion, are even now releasing quality stuff (that probably gets very little attention) will never be nominated
INXS I thought they were one of the better bands at the time with a strong three album run in the late 80’s (Listen Like Thieves, Kick, X).....I’d be very happy to see them get in.
**
Iron Maiden*** Have to admit that metal is not my genre.....but with others they I lump them together with like Judas Priest being in......why not?
Joy Division/New Order I like them…and the Cure and Depeche Mode are in, which they all swim in the same water .......but of all these bands, I think The Smiths were better with one of the most innovative guitarists of the time (Johnny Marr) and individualistic singers (Morrissey). Maybe the RRHOF committee reaaly hates Morrissey that much.
**New Edition ** not familar with them…was Bobby Brown their lead singer?
Oasis Would be surprised if they do not get in and think they should get in.......however, I think that Blur was much better and still released a great album a couple if years ago
P!NK after my time of paying attention to pop so not really familiar to her body of work.....probably more familiar with her flamboyant looks
Sade remember her from her song Smooth Operator in the 80’s…pleasant voice, but don’t know much about her beyond that…is she from France?
Shakira see Pink
Luther Vandross I don’t know.....a poor man’s Teddy Pendergrass ? (some of his stuff with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes was great)
Wu-Tang Clan I know they’re influential, but not my genre
