Literally, if we’re comparing them to Spinal Tap, there’s a scene toward the beginning of the movie where an interviewer asks them about how they’ve declined from playing arenas to playing theaters, and they say they’re not less popular now, “the audience is becoming more selective.” Then after Nigel quits, they’re reduced to playing gigs like the one with “Puppet Show and Spinal Tap.” Yes is at the point Spinal Tap was at before the Stonehenge disaster & Nigel leaving.
