I can’t be the first person who’s thought of that joke.
But no, really, they have a lot of Gen X fans of both sexes from when they were popular at the one Rush show I’ve been to. I think I’ve said this before, but I was working at Nissan Pavilion (now Jiffy Lube Live) the summers of 2003 and 2004 and worked their concert on the Feedback tour. I was unfamiliar with Blue Cheer’s version of “Summertime Blues” and thought the instrumental sections replacing the spoken parts in the original was the band’s idea and Geddy did the raised eyebrow thing and it all made me want to tick-tock-tick-tock-SCREAM. But the concert basically ruled – I know I’ve talked about this before because I’ve mentioned that 90% of all concerts either suck or isn’t your thing. Curiously I’ve been to very little live music since 2004. I guess I got my fill. But being a music lover isn’t a good reason to work at a concert venue. After standing through two hours of Annie Lennox at 120dB through earplugs it’s a wonder I was as into music in my non-working hours as I was.
Speaking of Geddy, he looks great for 73. It helps that he hasn’t changed his look since the mid ’70s.
