Wu-Tang, Iron Maiden: I don’t care for either but as legends in their genre, yes.
Black Crowes: kudos for carrying the torch for classic rock for so many years, but they’re so derivative Mick and Keith are still waiting on their royalties. I admit they have a few good songs.
INXS: one the 80s biggest bands/MTV annoyances. If Duran Duran got in, so do they. Now do Midnight Oil.
Jeff Buckley, Lauryn Hill - one album wonders, both overhyped to death. Meh.
Oasis - yes
Joy Division/New Order - YES
Billy Idol, Phil Collins - will the 80s just go away? OK, I enjoyed some of the hits, but massive commercial success doesn’t always equal quality.
Mariah Carey - not rock but we crossed that bridge a long time ago.
Melissa Etheridge - kudos for being the first openly butch and proud lesbian to hit the charts, but....does anyone remember this Springsteen bombast rocker for much else?
Luther Vandross, Sade - I should withhold judgement before listening more. Slick 80s neosoul just doesn’t do it for me.
New Edition - arrgh, here come the boy bands. Really?
Shakira - how many English language hits does she have? Does the Hall really want to open the floodgates for Latin music artists?
Pink - one hit wonder. Come on. But after Chubby Checker, who knows.
