That’s a bit unkind about the solo being in the wrong key. Most likely it was the result of a similar band hangout to the one that kicked off the drum fill part, and they’re sitting around on their fourth or fifth Coors Light and Kid Rock is like “wouldn’t it be awesome if we played with this a bit, make it swaggerish or odf-kilter”, and it was done for effect.
I’m sorry, that was planned as one of the big singles of the year and had been polished to an inch of its life under an army of writers, musicians, producers, and executives, and the thought that such a “mistake” could be genuine, having slipped through all those trained professionals, is ludicrous. Arrogant ass.
As a friend, he would be the guy who sucks but who isn’t an asshole.
