I read Rumblefish at some point in the 20s and thought that it was “readable,” but I only read it to compare it to the weird Coppola movie. It’s atypical based on the couple of other Hinton books that I’d read earlier, because the smarter and more introspective character is not the POV character.
I think her books are genuinely good books for the ages she wrote them for, but I don’t want to read them now.
There’s a version of The Great Gatsby starring Alan Ladd.
