The cleaned up vocal could have worked but it’s actually too clean and needed more effects on it IMO. If Lennon had been recording a real vocal take for this as opposed to just laying down a rough demo he would have at least double tracked it, and then most likely done something else to it too. I always thought the low quality of the original mix’s vocal made it sounds a bit like a chorus or phaser effect. what they should have done is taken the cleaned up vocal, then added some classic beatlesy effects to it: delay, chorus, phaser, whatever.
the rest of the mix is fine, my main thought is that those multi-tracked acoustic guitars are really poppin now, its like all i can hear at points in the song.
OK, now where’s Real Love?
Also outside of these remixes, I don’t think there’s a Beatles project I could be less excited for than Anthology 4. I don’t even think I’ve heard the original Anthologies in full. The series as a whole never seemed that interesting to me. Would have been cool at the time for people getting rare archive material for the first time, but now there’s so much out there and when it comes to archival stuff I’d rather more focused looks at certain eras instead of just a big mishmash of random leftovers.

The anthology albums are fairly redundant at this point -
