Someone here said that Speakerboxxx/The Love Below was a once-huge album that has since fell out of the conversation a la The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill but I cannot remember who it was here who said that.
It could have been me, but I would only have made the Lauryn Hill comparison if people were already talking about her in the thread. Otherwise I wouldn’t have thought of her. But I remember that as a huge album that felt like it was going to go down as an enduring classic, and then it didn’t.
I actually do remember all of these songs:
Kelis - “Milkshake” - Barf.
Ashlee Simpson - “Pieces Of Me” - Was this the song she was singing when she had her infamous SNL disaster? Or not singing?
Jet - “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” - Terrible band that inspired one funny comment from A Smith about these guys stealing old ladies’ medicine and selling it to people because they were just that stupid, or something. It’s in the quotebook, if anyone wants to go look it up. This song sucked.
Gretchen Wilson - “Redneck Woman” - Die, die.
but I only remembered the artists name for Jet. At first I thought I remembered the Toby Keith song, but I was thinking of “Citizen Solider” by 3 Doors Down, made for a National Guard recruiting video they played before movies!
