He tried his hand at several non-SF novels early in his career, all of which were rejected, some of which have been published posthumously. I found this one in my library. It’s about the miserable life of an unsuccessful used car salesman. It’s not a classic but it’s a not bad slice of grittily depressing blue collar realism.
